At TACandles, we want you to enjoy your candles safely while getting the best possible burn. Please follow these candle care and safety guidelines every time you light your candle.

Before Lighting

  • Trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) before each burn.
  • Place your candle on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep the wax free from wick trimmings, matches, and other debris.
  • Keep candles away from drafts, vents, fans, and air currents.

While Burning

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
  • Keep candles away from curtains, bedding, paper, furniture, decorations, and anything that can catch fire.
  • Never move or touch a candle while the wax is hot or melted.
  • Keep multiple burning candles at least 3 inches (7.5 cm) apart.
  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Stop burning the candle if the flame becomes unusually large or begins producing excessive smoke. Allow it to cool, trim the wick, and relight.

Get the Best Burn

For the first burn, allow the melted wax to reach close to the edges of the container. This helps promote an even burn and reduces tunneling.

Always keep the wick properly trimmed. A wick that is too long can create a larger flame, soot, and uneven burning.

When to Stop Using Your Candle

Discontinue when approximately 1/2 inch (13 mm) of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning a candle with too little wax remaining can cause the container to become excessively hot.

Never continue using a candle if the container is cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer when possible or carefully blow out the flame. Make sure the flame is completely extinguished, and the wick is no longer glowing before leaving the candle unattended.

Never use water to extinguish a candle, as water can cause hot wax to splatter and may damage the container.

Important Safety Reminder

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always burn candles within sight and away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable materials.
